1) For each of the 9 first people answering this journal I will put his/her avatar and the three deviations I like from his/her/its gallery on the list.

2) If you answer, you'll have to do the same in your journal, putting me on the first place, completing this way the list with 10 people. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, it is to spread art around for everyone.

And because I stole this from his journal, the first place goes toooo...

1. :iconamrothdin: A fellow swede (visst är jag originell, AmrothDin) and the author his own warhammer comics. Check out his crazy wh40k galore gallery.

Finally I got around to do this and, in the end, it didn't take more than half an hour. My new avatar is a stamp I had made with the Japanese (Chinese) characters for my last name which in English means Oakstar. In Japanese it becomes kashiboshi which of course sounds hilarious =)

As I just got married I'm going to change my name to Tojo but I figured it'd be nice to preserve my old name in the icon. This type of stamp is also used for signing important papers, but as I now have a new one I figured it's safe to have it here ;). Admittedly those really used for signing are usually somewhat more intricate in detail and also inverted in colour because those are more difficult to do and thereby more difficult to copy.

My stamp

If you are interested in having one made you can surf to [link] I bought mine from them directly in Japan so I'm not sure how they ship internationally.

Autumn Noir

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 4, 2008, 9:59 AM

  • Reading: Transmission Electron Microscopy
  • Watching: Sin City
  • Playing: Max Payne
  • Drinking: Spiced wine
The first steps of Autumn are already taken on the journey towards the darkness of winter. In the fiery glory of autumn me and my lovely japanese wife got married. Within the world of seasons the beauty of fall is perhaps the most fragile, though, and soon the red and orange must give way to grey and black.

In the wake of All Hallows Eve our land has seen naught but rain. Today we've been sprayed with fine rain and the yellowish glow of the streetlights give the evening that film noir feeling. It is a mood I like.

It was one of those nights...
When the darkness creeps in way too quickly,
preluding the incoming storm.
The rain...
hammering down like a colt .45
hammering a pimp in a back alley

It was one of those evenings
when you know you should've stayed at home.
Realising only after the doors shut behind you,
the Mistake...

Don't get too gloomy out there. The autumn is there to drink spiced wine in candle light and make love while the rain drums the windows.

Can't believe it's been exactly a year since my last entry. I guess my last journal was just to good to take away.

Just a week ago I switched operating system from MS (as in MiSerable) windows to Fedora (Linux). It's a change I would recommend anyone with some curiosity and a bit of willingness to learn. What I felt was that in windows I was constantly trying to do things that the system wouldn't allow me. It became a constant matter of working against my computer instead of with it. My first action was to change all my software to free programs which did indeed improve both performance as well as my mental state. If anyone is interested in alternative software I'm happy to help you find it.

In the end I felt that this wasn't enough and the idea of using Linux became increasingly stronger. After a long period of research and the difficult process of choosing what version of Linux to use for the first time a victor finally emerged. My choice was Fedora 8 xfce.

Fedora

Not saying that everything works automatically in Linux. But if there's a problem it's because I haven't done anything to solve it, not because of the quirks of the OS. I'm very happy with the transition and looking forward to Fedora 9 that is to be released on the 13th of may.

On other notices I have two musicians I would really recommend. The first one I found about half a year ago and I just ordered two of his CD:s from Candyrat records. His name is Andy McKee and his skills lies in the acoustic guitar. You can really see his how he loves music when he's playing. Take a look at Andy McKee at YouTube. Also make sure to check out his song Drifting as well.

Second is the YouTube phenomenon and musical genius Ronald Jenkees. He's slightly wierd but he does know the true values of life and music. See his latest (and best) video at YouTube

Well, that 's enough for today

Today I got a letter from Hollywood! =)
Not that I'm a big fan of hollywood (as in hollywood movies) but it's still cool to get real letters from distant places. As all other western people, totally isolated from nature and our primeval instincts, my first reaction to finding something exciting was to take a picture of it. And this is what it looked like...

Letter from hollywood

The inside was of course what really made my happy like this.

Happy!

It was my new Deco t-shirt from deviantWEAR series 7 and it feels great I tell you. Fortunately S was the size for me and it fits perfectly. The question is - Am I still too sexy for my shirt?

Too sexy for my shirt?

I'd like to think so ;)
